Finding Rhythm in Community: A Drum Circle Jam at Headwaters
This August, the sounds of West Africa will fill the halls of Headwaters Music & Arts as the community gathers for a free drumming workshop led by Fode Camara and Helen Bond. The Community Drum Circle Jam, taking place Friday, August 22 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, offers more than a chance to learn rhythm—it’s an invitation to connect.
Through powerful beats and vibrant stories, Fode and Helen share a glimpse into Guinea’s traditions and daily life, using music as a bridge to understanding and unity. Whether you’ve never touched a drum or you’ve played for years, this workshop is designed to bring people together through sound.
Headwaters is honored to provide space for this event—much like our Open Mic Nights and Campfire Jams, we believe in welcoming music that fosters community. Sponsored by the Bemidji Area Boys & Girls Club, the George W. Nielson Foundation, Bemidji Area Arts Endowment, and The Carolyn F. Jacobs Culture and Humanity Fund, this rhythmic gathering is a celebration of togetherness.
No registration is required, but if you'd like to let us know you’re coming, reach out at 218-444-5606. We’ll be ready with drums—and open hearts.
