In this 8-week workshop, adults will learn the foundational skills of pottery while creating their own handmade ceramic pieces from start to finish. Participants will explore essential techniques including wedging clay, score and slip joining, pinch pots, coil and slab construction, wheel throwing, trimming and footing, and glazing.
Throughout the workshop, students will gain a deeper understanding of how clay behaves, how different building techniques work together, and how to transform ideas into finished pottery. With guided instruction from potter Ashlyn Daly and plenty of hands-on studio time, participants can expect to build confidence working with clay, develop core ceramic skills, and leave with several functional and unique pieces they’ve created themselves.
Participants will also have access to Open Pottery Studio hours to continue working on their projects outside of class time. Open Studio is available Wednesdays from 2–5 PM and Fridays from 4–6 PM, giving students additional opportunities to practice techniques and finish their pieces.
The cost of glaze, firing, and 25 lbs of clay is included with the workshop price. Additional clay will be available for purchase if needed.
Sundays | 1–3 PM
May 3, 17, 24, 31 & June 7, 14, 21, 28
